Interns: A Motivated Group

After a decade in talent acquisition including 5 years recruiting interns and developing internship programs, this is my favorite question. Why interns? Because they are the most eager population of employees a company will ever have. Period.

Do they need training? Yes. Do they need coaching? Yes. However, do they need motivation? No. They are already motivated by adding experience to their resume, gaining new skills in the field they are studying, getting class credit, making new friends, making industry contacts, making money, receiving a full-time job offer, and maybe even making mom and dad very happy.

I lost count the number of times my intern managers said to me, “my intern is outperforming my entry level hires.” While that is not the measuring stick I utilize to determine the success of my interns, it shows the impact this group of employees is capable of making.

If you have not considered onboarding intern talent, I am here to help you build a program based on your business needs, creating a structured approach to drive impact for your long-term hiring goals.
